Lily is a member of the group of humans living in the caves. he is one of the first humans to show kindness and acceptance to Wanderer. She has long been admired by Wes, who is younger than she is. Eventually they begin a relationship and are very happy together.
Sunlight Passing Through the Ice “Sunny” | FC: Alexandra Daddario (or up to the role player) | OPEN
Sunny is a soul in the body of Kyle’s girlfriend, Jodi. Sunny got her name from previously living on the world of the Ice Bears. Upon discovering that there was a way to successfully remove a soul without killing the host, Kyle sought Jodi out in hopes to bring her back. He found her in Las Vegas with her family and kidnapped her through her bedroom window. Sharing Jodi’s feelings for Kyle, Sunny did not fight against him or scream. She would not let go of Kyle, and when he mentioned the word ‘Raid’, she became hysterical. She desperately wanted to remain on Earth with Kyle but Wanderer told her that she must leave. Once she was extracted from Jodi’s body, Jodi’s consciousness did not return. After several days, Doc was worried that she would die of dehydration or starvation so they reinserted Sunny into Jodi’s body. She and Kyle seemed to have developed a close bond and he was very protective of her.
Eustace “Doc” | FC: Iwan Rheon | in a relationship with: Sharon Stryder | OPEN
Doc is a part of the human resistance, he is a medical surgeon and serves as the rebels’ doctor. In the book he is shown as very interested in finding out about how the souls invaded and tries experiments on Hosts with Souls inside them. Wanda offers him the information he is searching for, how to get a Soul out of a host without damaging either, if he takes her out of Melanie’s body and buries her near Walter and Wes. He agrees but goes back on his word to bury her, and puts her into another host instead. Doc appears to have problems with alcohol.
Sharon Stryder | 25 | FC: Emma Stone | in a relationship with Doc | OPEN
Sharon is Melanie’s cousin, and the reason Melanie left Jared and Jaime and set off on her own to find her. Like her mother Maggie, Sharon has a deep rooted hatred for the souls, including Wanda. She dislikes Wanda so much that she cant be happy for the healing of Jaime and yells at Jared for leading her outside of the caves. Her feelings towards Wanda change slightly only when Wanda is reinserted into the body of Petals Open to the Moon, or Pet. Sharon is in a relationship with Doc because her mother set them up.
The Seeker “Lacey” | FC: Leslie Bibb | OPEN
One of the invading souls. Melanie and Wanda’s relationship is initially based on their strong dislike for the Seeker, who is described as being irritable and abrasive for the usually gentle souls. She mocks Wanda for not being able to completely drive out Melanie’s spirit.
Jamie Stryder | 14 | FC: Logan Lerman | OPEN
Jamie is Melanie’s younger brother and is 14 years old when he first meets Wanda. He develops a relationship with Wanda due to her closeness to his sister and eventually, he develops a strong brotherly bond with Wanda herself. He is very close to Jared, though their relationship becomes tense due to Jared’s cruel treatment of Wanda. Jamie is shown to want to be treated like a man and when he falls ill he is uncomfortable with the coddling he receives and yearns to go on raids with Jared and the other men.
Kyle O’Shea | 28 | FC: Jensen Ackles | OPEN
Kyle is Ian’s older and very stubborn brother. He holds a fierce hatred for souls and tries to kill Wanda on more than one occasion. He is described as looking almost exactly like Ian, and can also sound like him when he is calm. He had a girlfriend named Jodi who was captured, and he tries to rescue her by removing the soul from her brain. Jodi does not regain consciousness, and so he puts the soul, Sunny, back inside of Jodi’s body and allows her to stay.
Ian O’Shea | 25 | FC: Ian Harding | in a relationship with: Wanda | OPEN
Ian is a part of the human resistance against the invasion of the souls. In the beginning, he has a strong dislike for sous and Wanda, and was even a part of the group that tried to kill her. While Kyle, his brother, and the others are out on a raid, he warms up to Wanda. Ian falls in love with Wanda, but she explains to him that she can’t love him while in Melanie’s body because Melanie loves Jared and it ‘was in the makeup of her cells’ to like Jared. When Wanda tries to kill herself to give Melanie back Ian snaps and won’t let her leave.
Jared Howe | 29 | FC: Chase Crawford | in a relationship with: Melanie Stryder | OPEN
Jared is a part of the human resistance. He was 26 when he found Melanie, and wouldnt let her leave his side. They grew closer and he came to love her. Thinking he’d lost her forever, he turned cold and angry. He took over looking out for Jaime after Melanie was captured, and it was he who took him to the caves. When Wanderer arrived at the caves in Melanie’s body, Jared was not pleased. When he came back from the first raid he went out on since Jeb took in Wanderer, it took him a while before he finally warmed up to Wanda ever so slightly, and talked to her for only the second time, to ask her about Melanie.
Melanie “Mel” Stryder | 21 | FC: Lily Collins | in a relationship with: Jared Howe | RESERVED
Melanie was a part of the human resistance and was able to avoid capture by the souls for years. She took care of her brother Jaime on her own before they found Jared, who she falls deeply in love with. Melanie’s last memory before being captured by the Seekers was running and jumping down an elevator shaft. It was the last memory she thought she’d ever have. She was mistaken. After Wanderer was inserted into her, she found that she was still aware, and even able to communicate with the parasite inside of her. She was able to convince Wanderer to go searching for Jared and Jaime, and is overjoyed when she finally see’s Jared again, not caring that the eyes that once looked at her adoringly now look at her with disgust, repulsed by the soul wearing her body.
